The beginning
"Every thing must have a beginning ... and that beginning must be linked to something that went before." -Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
It has begun: I am making my own online photo album.
But it didn't come to be by it self. Something went before...
Years ago I started out sharing my photo on the web via Picasa, which at the time had a no-nonsense approach. But the Google first began to "improve" on my photos (I have done postprocessing, and perfection cannot be improved, tyvm!) - and then Google folded Picasa into their G+ experiment, which turned out to have a quite different agenda. Now my albums ends in 404.
So I migrated to Flickr, which at the time had a much better proposition for us, non-casual amateurs. But I have to admit, I never really was comfortable with Yahoo, and even less now that Verizon owns Flickr. I could never convince myself that we had compatible agendas, and as time goes this feeling only grows. I feel history is repeating.
Which is why this site was started in the hope that it could be a more permanent home for my photos. I will still share photos elsewhere, but this is the base. I hope that finally I can be in control.
Oh, and that wasn't even the beginning. Back it in the early '80 I got a Canon AV-1 35 mm film SLR camera. That was probably the beginning. Though actually something went before that too. But that is a story for another time...
